A good knowledge of tide predictions while planning a backwater paddle trip is essential.  Nothing worse than arriving at your put in spot only to find a mud flat extending out a considerable distance.  Tidal information is vital for  kayak fishing as well.   Planning to drift with tides can  reduce effort going out, and coming back in from your kayak paddling adventure.
